Dive in Cinema


As part of Maitland City Councils ‘Make It Maitland this summer’ program, a special one off edition of ‘Dive in Cinema’ will be held at the Maitland Aquatic Centre on Friday 26 January 2024. 

The film night will be complete with entertainment, food, laser tag, lawn games, and free swim time.

Maitland Events is seeking volunteers to assist in the delivery of Maitland River Regatta.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet new people, work as part of a team, give back to the community and learn new skills whilst having a lot of fun in the process.

Getting Here

This Australia Day there will be a range of activities in Maitland Park.

There are plenty of way to get to and from the event. See below for more details. 


Wherever possible guests are being encouraged to use public transport to get to and from the event.

Maitland Railway Station is only a 15 minute walk from the event site.

There are a range of transport options including bustrain and taxi.

With Maitland Train Station being only a short 15 minute walk from the event site, catching a train into the event is one of the easiest ways to get here.

Visit Transport NSW for the latest timetables and to plan your trip to and from Maitland Park.

There are a range of car parks available around Central Maitland if you choose to drive to Maitland Park:

  • Riverside Car Park
  • Sempil Street Car Park
  • Elgin Street Car Park
  • Riverside Plaza Car Park
  • Pre School Lane Car Park

Each of the car parks listed has accessible parking available.

With the amount of people attending the event, parking can become an issue for some.

Taxi Services will be available throughout the event weekend.

Maitland River Regatta will be held RH Taylor Reserve, Lorn and Lorn Beach, 

The event will run from 3.00pm – 8.00pm with the Regatta running from 3.00pm – 7.00pm. 

The event is free to attend, however the Regatta is $15.00 per boat (1-2 people).

Dogs are permitted on site, however they must be on a leash and with their owner at all times.

We ask that dog owners respect the event site as well as other event attendees by picking up after your dog.

We expect crowds of around 6,000 – 8,000 people so we ask that you don’t bring any dogs with an aggressive nature to the event.

At Dive in Cinema, we always make sure that we have plenty of delicious food and drink on offer for the whole family to enjoy.

From community sausage sizzles, burgers, pizza, gozleme, mexican, loaded fries and more, there is something to cater for everyone.

Australia Day in Maitland Park

Join us this Australia Day in Maitland Park from 7.30am – 12.30pm for a morning of exciting activities, delicious food, and fantastic entertainment

With a free bbq, craft activities, live entertainment plus free entry to both Maitland and East Maitland Aquatics Centre from 10.00am – 4.00pm, it’s a perfect day out for the whole family!

As the sun sets and the evening unfolds, the fun after the daytime festivities, Maitland Pool will transform into a floating cinema for Dive-In Cinema.

Grab your floaties and swimwear, or simply relax by the poolside, and immerse yourself in an unforgettable movie experience under the stars.

It’s the perfect way to cap off your Australia Day celebration in Maitland Park.
